Professional Interests:

As a physician-scientist with clinical training in endocrinology and a strong research background in unique behavioral interventions, I have a fervent interest in improving the lives of patients living with diabetes.  My primary area of research involves understanding the impact of psychological stress on metabolism in patients with diabetes and obesity.  I currently have a K23 career development award in which I am currently investigating the impact of stress reduction through mindfulness meditation training on physiological and psychological outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes.  My long long-term career goal is to become a successful, independent, physician-scientist examining the utility of mind-body therapies as adjunctive treatments to current medical care in patients with diabetes and obesity.
