The UNC Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic at Meadowmont has an ADA Recognized Diabetes Education Program meeting the National Standards for excellence in diabetes education.  Patient education and preventive care are high priorities at the UNC Diabetes Care Center. One of our guiding principles is the idea that patients, not doctors or nurses, take care of diabetes on a day-to-day basis. The healthcare professional’s role is to teach the patient how to care for his or her own diabetes. In order to achieve this, both individual instruction and group classes in diabetes management are available.

Our expert Endocrinologists work closely with both UNC and out-of-network physicians.  The following services are available on-site:

  •  Thyroid biopsies
  • Medication studies
  • Infusions:  Bisphosphonates (Reclast)
  • Specialty Laboratory Tests

We also provide consultative care for all aspects of endocrinology and metabolism to both inpatients and outpatients.
